Why Is Gluten Free Lipstick Important?

Gluten free lipstick IS important. Many more people than ever are finding out they are (and this could include you without knowing it!) sensitive to gluten. When gluten is in lipstick, you absolutely ingest it.

An estimated 1 in 133 people have a heightened sensitivity to gluten. It's called GSE or Gluten Sensitivity Enteropathy. Most people do not even know it. Those with a serious case of GSE are known to have Celiac disease. Those with Celiac disease cannot have gluten even come CLOSE to them without being severely effected. Minor symptoms are easy to be mistaken for other things. Symptoms such as abdominal cramping, excess gas, diarrhea and/or constipation, fatty stools, anemia, weight loss even when eating a lot, delayed puberty, mouth ulcers, joint pain, osteoporosis, fatigue, migraines, numbness in hands or feet, gall bladder malfunction, essential vitamin deficiencies, etc… To this end, we decided there was a way to make an awesome product without gluten. What is Celiac Disease?

Celiac disease is a genetic disorder and also a digestive disorder. As mentioned above, it affects at least 1 in 133 Americans. The symptoms of celiac disease range from the not as bad symptoms like diarrhea, weight loss, and / or malnutrition, to symptoms not so easily seen like nutrient deficiencies with no gastrointestinal symptoms.

Those with Celiac and GSE experience an immune reaction in their intestines and damage is caused to the inner surface of the small intestine. This in turn creates conditions that cause your body to be unable to absorb nutrients and vitamins

Celiac disease mostly affects people of European descent and more recent studies by doctors show that other races are also affects. Races such as Hispanic, Black and Asian.

Those affected by Celiac Disease generally suffer damage to the villi (shortening and villous flattening) in the lamina propria and crypt regions of their intestines when they eat specific food-grain antigens (toxic amino acid sequences) that are found in wheat, rye, and barley. Oats have traditionally been considered to be toxic to celiacs, but recent scientific studies have shown otherwise.

The range of symptoms celiac disease presents are very broad. Symptoms ranging from mild weakness, bone pain, and aphthous stomatitis to chronic diarrhea, abdominal bloating, and progressive weight loss, you can see it can be difficult to diagnose and doctors are more familiar with it today than ever before.

When people with Celiac disease continue to eat gluten, studies show that he or she has an increased risk of gastrointestinal cancer; by a factor of 40 to 100 times that of the normal population. That's scary.

Further, gastrointestinal carcinoma or lymphoma develops in up to 15 percent of patients with untreated or refractory celiac disease.
