I found the idea of ordering samples very attractive, at it is hard to know if a color and texture truly fits you until you try it on (also, I'm quite picky)! It was a lot of fun to try them out and I could see what the colors looked like in different lighting (sunny day, overcast day, and artificial lights). I took my time, tried them again and again, showed them to my hubby, and finally settled my choice on two lovely shades, which I just ordered! ...and I actually ordered more samples!

I ordered 8 samples. For fun I put them on one at a time and took notes about the shades and which ones were my favorites. I am a brunette with medium skin with warm undertones. I decided to rank them starting with the one I picked last and ending with my favorite. Let me tell you though---they could of all been number one--they are beautiful! Here I go----Out of eight, coming in eight is "Red! 101" It is a beautiful red but as I have never worn a red shade before it overwhelmed me. Give me time though---I think this one could grow on me! Coming in as number 7---"Rebel". It ramps up the color on your lips and is very pretty, but still,--a tad intense for me. Number 6---"Kiss Me On the Chic"---a perfect coral-pink on my lips. I prefer more pink but I was pleasantly surprised to find I really liked this shade. Number 5---"Ooh La La"---This is a gorgeous medium mauve-pink on me. Very pretty. Number 4---"Vogue"---This came out on my lips as a soft plum-berry. Again---very, very nice, but not my number one choice. Number 3---"New York"---This shade bounced around from number three to number two and even number one. It was a hard choice. It is a pale soft dusty pink and very flattering. Number 2---Secrets---This looked like a soft golden pink on my lips. it seemed very similar to "New York", but a little more intense. Now for my number one choice of my samples----"Petal Rebel"---What can I say---it is the perfect pink. Not bubblegum pink, not a purple-pink,---just the perfect pink.

Lipsticks can be so different on each individual that sometimes you just need to try the colors you are uncertain of. The amount of product given in the little sample container is generous and is enough to be used many times. The applicator brush included is so handy for painting on the colors and it all can be kept in the resealable plastic bag very convenient for travel. I was curious about three shades and rather than pay full price and possibly have to return them, I was able to experiment with the samples and find out that none of them were right for me. An added bonus was a sample of Rallye Balm. Yes it seemed pricey at first but it was worth it to me and satisfied my curiosity in a very reasonable way.

I tried out the Wine & Dandy and I loved the color and how it's gluten free. I been looking for a nice brown shade. The lipstick stays on pretty good. :)

I haven't gotten to try all the shades I ordered yet - I tried Rebel and Hibiskiss so far. It's true that the packaging of the samples isn't perfect, in that you can't easily reseal - however, this really is a great way to test drive the lipstick and see if you like how the color looks. (I reclosed the pod as best as I could and put it in a ziplock bag - so I didn't just use once and ditch the rest or anything like that - you can definitely save it.)
I thought the staying power wasn't bad at all. Yes, I did get the lipstick on my coffee cup, but it mostly stayed on until I ate something. I don't mind reapplying if I need to.
In short - I think sampling before committing to a full tube is definitely the way to go!

I was so happy to discover that RAL offers a create your own lipstick sample pack! There are so many options and some look great on screen but might not look that great on you so I'm happy I get a chance to try them out before I buy full sizes. As others mentioned, they do come in pods and I think the sample sizes are definitely significant. They even threw in a sample of the Rallye Balm and application brush:) I haven't had any issues with resealing the sticker that comes on the pod and they're compact enough to fit perfectly in my purse.

I had a hard time getting into the colors to give them a try. I basically had to take a knife to get through the sticker. Also, thank you for the free brush, but I'm going to use a q-tip in the future. I did get a free lip balm sample with my two color samples, but I ordered a whole stick of that so I'm going to give that sample to a friend. No complaints about the lipstick (other than I tried to use the brush and it did a terrible job), but packaging was less than optimal.

I love the idea of being able to try the color before buying full sized product, but I wasn't happy with the pods the samples came in. First, they were really tiny for the price - I'd expect such samples to cost up to $1 as your really don't get too much color and due to packaging, you cannot take the sample with you. Which is the second con for me - once you open a sample, there's no way to close/reseal it, so it has to be used really quickly and also no way to carry it with you if you wanna take that color for fixing the makeup later in the day/evening. Yet, it is a nice way to try different shades.

I really wanted to enjoy this lipstick but so far it's just been a big mess. It started with not being able to open the sample and then to find out that it was not resealable I was disappointed. Upon application of the Habenero I at first loved the color, it was nice and creamy, however I drink A LOT of water and found that my lipstick was everywhere! My husband was laughing at me, not my idea of fun. Is there a way to set your lipstick so this doesn't happen?

I love being able to sample lipsticks before I buy a full sized tube. I disliked the sample packets though. They come in a little plastic pod that is covered with a sticker. The sticker rips and tears so there is no turning back once it is opened. I would love to be able to reseal the package because the sample lasts much longer than one use.
