Four Generations Of Beauty – Mother’s Day 2019

Since moving it’s not often that my Mom and I get to see family. The last time Great Grandma, Nana, Mom and I were together was about three years ago for Christmas. Three years may or may not seem like a long time, but we were all very close before. We even had a “Girls Club” and got together frequently for luncheons and potlucks. Each party had different themes and color schemes. We had also written a song together; unfortunately, I can’t remember how it went; otherwise, I’d share it.
Early this year I began planning a trip to go up and see them.
Great Grandma is still pretty healthy, but she is 95 now. I keep getting this feeling in my heart that time is slipping away and I want to make some memories still.
After a plane ride and a car drive, we made it to their house. Along the way, we picked up a gluten-free and vegan chocolate cake from a local bakery called Boots Bakery. This trip was particularly special because we celebrated being together again, Mother’s Day, Great Grandma’s Birthday and my birthday all in one. It was beautiful to be able to enjoy the occasion with a delicious treat.
The one thing that I wanted to be able to do on this trip was to get four generation pictures. Before leaving I scouted some locations and came across Manito Park and the Botanical Garden. The tricky part was working around the weather. The weather can be unpredictable this time of year — rain, sun, snow, who knows. Luckily we were able to be pretty flexible with time and were able to wait to go on a day when the sun was shining. On the day we went, there was some wind, and it was quite cold, but overall we could not have asked for a better day.
I’m planning on putting the pictures together and sending a picture book to Great Grandma and Nana for Mother’s Day. Mom and I also gifted them some RAL products. Nana has always LOVED corals and oranges, you could say it’s her signature lip color, so we gifted her the Tangomint gloss. She loves it! For Great-Grandma we gifted her the S.W.A.K lipgloss. She said she enjoys the smell of it.

The trip went by so fast, as they generally seem to do, but I’m so thankful for the time we were able to spend together.
If I were to leave you with some words, it’d be to make sure that you take in each moment you spend with your loved ones. When you can’t be present in person call on a lunch break or email before bed. Then when you do get to see your loved ones cherish every hug and kiss because the time we have is precious and goes by so fast.
