  1. 5 out of 5 Perfect Matte Black

This is indispensable! The swiss army knife of eyeshadow. The pigmentation is really smooth and rich but can be subtle with a light hand.

  2. 5 out of 5 Bold matte black for outer V

Most black eyeshadows are not pigmented enough for the outer V. This one is!

  3. 5 out of 5 Wonderful Black

This shadow is easy to control for a lot or a little to go on. It goes on very smooth. So far I have been using it on my lid and crease on the outer portion and use Bronze Bombshell on the rest of the crease. I have fair skin and brown eyes.

  4. 5 out of 5 Excellent shadow or liner

This color goes on great sometimes I have to use a little more if not using a brush to apply but I love using it in the crease of the eye to really give that dramatic effect also works wonderful as an eye liner. Long wear well

This matte black shadow goes on so smoothly! Wonderful to use as a liner and I also use this on my brows.

  6. 5 out of 5 Makes a great liner

I use this as eyeliner since powders work better for me than pencil-type liners. I’ve used it both wet and dry. I do sometimes use a brown liner as a base and go over it with the black magic shadow, always using an eyeliner brush. Adds a dramatic look and converts ‘day’ makeup to ‘night’ makeup easily.

  7. 5 out of 5 So useful

I was a little skeptical about buying black eye shadow at first. I wanted it for an eye liner, but have found it to be much more. I use it on the outer corner of my eyes. It is a great backdrop and compliment for all my other eyeshadow colors. It’s nice not to use harsh eye liner pencils anymore.

  8. 5 out of 5 Perfect black liner

So far I’ve only used it as an eye liner. Why did I wait so long to get Black Magic? It’s a basic must have staple.

  9. 5 out of 5 Deep Matte Black

Great solid matte black eye shadow. I use it on the lower outer corner of my eyes with Porcelain all over the lid, Brownie points in the crease, and Espresso on the upper outer corner. I also use Black Magic as an eye liner on my upper lash line; you could easily use it on your lower lash line as well. I like that it is a deep black color and not a black that is actually gray or shiny. A matte black eye shadow is a great staple for any makeup collection since it is so versatile and adds a little extra drama when you need it.

  10. 5 out of 5 A must have for your make-up bag

This eye shadow is beautiful. You can use it for casual looks by blending more and using fewer layers. I like to blend it with the espresso shade for a less dramatic look.

  11. 5 out of 5 Very Solid Black Eye Shadow

This is a very nice black eye shadow. It has great pigment and can be used softly or built up for extra drama. A very nice black eye shadow that can also be used as a nice black eyeliner.

5 out of 5 classic black

I love this eyeshadow! I always use it to line my upper eyelid which gives the illusion of fuller eyelashes. I prefer to line the lower lid with expresso since it looks more conservative with my dark brown eyes. The angled brush is worth every penny for applying the eyeshadows precisely as eyeliners.

  13. 5 out of 5 The perfect black - an absolute staple

This black is beautiful and perfect. I don’t have any problems with fallout, which is even better.
I spritz my angled liner brush lightly with rose water, and then pick up some of the shadow with the damp bristles, and it glides on as hands-down the best liquid eyeliner I have ever used. Then I finish the line by dipping my (now dry) brush back into the product and patting it on top of my line to set it in place. This technique holds not only all day, but also through a whole night of dancing!

5 out of 5 Striking as an eyeliner

I absolutely love Black Magic as a wet eyeliner. It now replaces any other black liner I was using. It is so versatile and easily glides onto the skin when using the angled brush wet. Thank you again for such an amazing eye shadow. I now own 2 Z-palettes full of beautiful colors to make amazing combinations.

  15. 4 out of 5 good eye liner over all

I use it as an eye liner, and it is really black actually and has that smoky finish to the eye. May be I should use an eye primer to make it last, it smudges after several hours and I have to use my fingers to clean my under eye from time to time. But over all it’s a great eye shadow to have.

  16. 5 out of 5 Intense Black

In the past buying non-toxic eyeshadows I would buy a supposedly black shade and it would end up looking gray when I applied it. Not this one! It an intense, opaque black.

  17. 5 out of 5 My new eyeliner

Finally a product that doesn’t make my eyes itch! I have an allergy to corn that seems to keep me from wearing most mainstream makeup, but I have been using this shadow as eyeliner for two weeks now and no itchy runny eye trouble- hooray! I have been applying it with the angle brush sometimes wet and some days dry and they both seem to stay put just fine and last all day. I am very happy with this product!

5 out of 5 Eyeliner with Ease!!!

Love the ease of this eye shadow when used as an eye liner with an angled eye liner brush. It’s the perfect black…wish I had purchased it sooner. 🙂

  20. 5 out of 5 Stunning

Wow! I wanted to try Black Magic as an eyeliner since I find liquid eyeliner very difficult to apply evenly. This is absolutely perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Applied wet and with an angled brush I can apply it even and smooth and get an amazing result. Thank you!

  21. 5 out of 5 Little Black Dress of eye shadows

I waited a while to buy this but always knew it was an eye shadow I was interested in. I had purchased Espresso in a previous order and began to use that as my daily liner. I was thrilled with how well it worked. So I purchased Black Magic during the Spring sale hoping it would work just as well. Well, I was not disappointed. This Black is so versatile. It works well as a liner either wet and dark or smudged lightly along the lashline for daytime. I also spread it lightly all over for a wash of smokey color. Many black shadows are patchy when used that way but this one blends smoothly over the eye lid. And of course it can be used to darken the outer v or create a classic smokey eye.

  22. 5 out of 5 Smokey Eye

This is a great color for a smokey eye! I use it on both my upper and lower lashes. It blends well so even though it is dark it is not harsh. I use it as a liner and in the crease for a smokey eye look.

  23. 5 out of 5 Perfect black matte

I got Black Magic to specifically use as an eyeliner and I love it. I rarely do smokey eye look and most of my shadows are every day nuetral colors, so this pan will last me for quite some time. I wet the eyeliner brush and a couple of strokes of shadow and I have a great pigmented black liner that last! My mother, who has oily lids, watery eyes and wears contacts, loved it. She had no difficulty using the brush to draw a straight line across the lid. I’m going to order her a twosie with Black Magic and Expresso. I know that RAL have actual eyeliners but I’m not a fan of pencils; so much is wasted with sharpening. Please make a deep eggplant purple matte, a navy matte and maybe a darker matte grey? Clean Slate isnt dark enough for a liner.

  25. 5 out of 5 Silky smooth, perfect eyeliner

I use Black Magic for eyeliner, and it is very silky smooth and easy to apply. Black Magic is like “Typographic” by MAC, except it won’t cause a rash, or make my eyes water. As with all of the Red Apple eyeshadows I have bought, it is of higher quality than MAC, and worth the extra money. It is extremely well-pigmented and blendable (zero blotching!). It can go on light for a professional look (I work in an office-y environment) or dramatic for stage lighting (I play music live) without looking fake. I use Espresso for the brows and outer v, blended into Yes You Canyon for the upper lids. Then Clean Slate for lower lids, and Black Magic for the liner.

  30. 5 out of 5 Wowza!

I have five of the shimmer shadows and I have liked them all. I didn’t particularly care that I didn’t have a matte shadow. I use them all as eyeliners, so I was interested in trying this one. I was trying to buy some of the brown matte shadow but it sold out immediately, so I ordered this. Wow, just wow. The depth of color and the composition is wonderful. I am so in love with this color that I hate to take it off when I go to sleep. I have mostly paired it with Raven but it would look great with any of the shadows. I have very fair skin and light eyes, but this shadow doesn’t overpower. It enhances what I have. I hope the other mattes are back in stock soon because I want a brown eyeliner just because. I do love this shadow as an eyeliner. It looks great and I feel great. That’s really what it’s all about. All you ladies who kept asking for matte shadows were right. Thank you! And thank you Jay and Andrea for being so responsive, and for making another fabulous product.

    Hi Jay,

As you prefer a REPLY, I will tell you that your products are
phenomenal! I tried them because they are gluten-free, and was amazed by the superior quality. I have used some “high-end” products like Chanel and more recently, Bare Minerals. In addition to being safe, your eyeshadows stay true much longer and the lipsticks actually DO moisturize, look and feel wonderful. I am so looking forward to your foundation and blushes which I understand are currently in development phase.

I took advantage of your special promotions and stocked up. My female friends and family will be receiving RAL products as Christmas gifts. When I gave some to 2 friends for their birthdays this Fall, they initially thought it strange, but after trying them, they absolutely gushed with gratitude and are hooked.

I love these products so much, I requested to become an affiliate so I can post a link from my blog http://www.pamelaspaleolife.wordpress.com. I was thrilled that RAL posted a link to my post “12 Days of (Paleo) Christmas” on the RAL Tumblr page!
    http://pamelaspaleolife.wordpress.com/2012/12/13/12-days-of-paleo-christmas/

Thank you and keep up the good work!

    🙂 Pamela
