Espresso is a very dark, matte coffee bean brown eyeshadow. Those with green and blue eyes will love how it compliments their eye color. If you have brown eyes don’t shy away from using brown shadows! As long as it’s either lighter or darker than you natural eye color it’ll create beautiful contrast. You can use this matte brown to create stunning brown smokey looks, lightly blended into the crease to add depth and as an alternative to a dark black liner. It’s another staple that everyone should have in their makeup collection. It works well with any of our other neutral brown and taupe shadows but try it with Mermaid Lagoon, Indi-Go-Go, That’s My Jam, Olive This Color and Sage Rage too!

  1. 5 out of 5 Found my go-to liner

I have an autoimmune disease and allergies to a lot of fillers and chemicals. I am in love with this shadow as a liner. I wet my brush and lining is a breeze!

  2. 5 out of 5 Love this shade!

This is a beautiful dark brown color that complements by dark brown eyes when I use it as an eyeshadow, usually to deepen up my crease, or when I use it to help fill in my brows. Creates a clean, sharp line that makes my brows look fuller and nicely shaped.

  4. 5 out of 5 Absolutely Love This Perfect Multi-Tasker!

Highly pigmented, a light tap in the shadow can go a long way. It’s perfect for warm medium to dark tan skin tones and for those with dark brown to black hair. I use Espresso primarily as a brow filler but also on my lids if I want a bit of depth or as a low-key eyeliner. On rare occasions, I will use it as a contour shade. This is such an adaptable color and goes so well with many other RAL shades as well as those from any other brands you might have. If I’m feeling glam I pair Espresso with Golden Ticket on the lids. Being a matte brown, it looks so beautiful with a shimmery, deep green!

Expresso show is just what I need to fill in my brows and also create a smoky eye! I don’t need much, a little goes a long way. The brown actually brings out the blue of my eyes!

  7. 5 out of 5 Works great as a liner.

I bought this to use as a liner, and it’s worked out great. It’s the perfect color for me. Wet or dry I get nice clean lines, though wet gives a slightly darker color and lasts a bit longer (with less fallout, too). Exactly what I wanted.

  8. 5 out of 5 Dramatic brown

I have dark brown hair and eyes with black lashes and eyebrows. This is a fantastic color to add more drama in the crease, and also (used wet) as an eyeliner. Love it

Love using this with a damp brush to concentrate it, then smudge it for a smokey liner. Perfect for blue eyes.

  10. 5 out of 5 CLEAN DARK BROWN

Espresso is the perfect name for this deep dark rich brown. It is the perfect dark brown without any orange undertone. I use it for the outer corner of my eyelid for a bit of drama and added depth. For a bolder look you could also use it in the crease using a light hand. RAL eye shadow goes on smoothly and give good coverage. I have not had any reaction or watery eyes due to using this makeup, which speaks volumes as my eyes and skin are very sensitive. This is a good basic color to have for any makeup collection.

  11. 5 out of 5 LOVE THIS COLOR!

This is so pretty as the dark, base color eyeshadow in the crease. I use it daily. Then I add a lighter, more natural shade over it all the way to the brow (I use Lucky Penny as the light color.) I had a stye on an eyelid recently, just before an international trip, and had to buy all new eye makeup. Although this would have been an excuse (opportunity) to go with a different color or brand, no way! It works and I love. So I re-purchased everything from RAL and did a rush order.

  12. 5 out of 5 Amazing!!! Allergies to eye makeup are gone!

I don’t normally write reviews but I have been trying to find a makeup brand for 15 years that doesn’t irritate my eyes and I’ve finally found it!! I have dry eyes and my eye dr said to stop wearing makeup because it was making my dry eyes even worse. What women wants to stop wearing makeup? None I know. Thank you creators of red apple lipstick. I can finally wear eye makeup everyday for hours on end, and have no itchy, stingy bloodshot eyes! Plus the shadows stay on, and don’t leave a powder mess on your cheek after applying them. I love this color and it works great As an eyeliner too. Awesome natural color!

5 out of 5 Natural Date Night Eyeshadow

I have fair skin and tend to lean more towards natural colors so I really like this one for when I get dressed up to go out with hubby or a night on the town with some girlfriends. It is a darker brown, but not too dark for a night of fun 🙂 I tend to pair with porcelain and brownie points.

  14. 5 out of 5 Stable Deep Brown Shade

I love this shade. It is a nice deep brown that can be used softly or built up to be darker for more definition. I think that a nice deep brown like this one is a staple for every makeup collection, especially for those who aren’t fans of using black on their eyes.

5 out of 5 Great for my competitive dancer

My daughter’s dance studio asked that we use a dark brown shadow with a black or gray over top of it for competitions. I used this and it worked perfectly. I’m so happy to have something that I feel comfortable using on my 6 year old.

5 out of 5 perfect dark brown

Expresso is my favorite brown eye shadow. I have dark brown eyes and neutral, fair skin. I use this as an eye shadow, eyeliner, and to define my eyebrows too! It matches my eyebrows perfectly. Before I discovered red apple, I could not wear ANY eyeshadow without puffy, red, itchy eyelids. I discovered I was gluten intolerant. Also I must be allergic to mica because I have no reaction at all to matte eyeshadows like this Expresso which has no shimmer from mica. (The eyeliner brush is totally worth purchasing too)

5 out of 5 great eyeliner

This is very deep color. Espresso is good for brown smokey eyes or as a natural eyeliner with a wet brush. It blends perfectly with other shades, no fallout! I like to use it together with Twinkle Taupe.

  18. 5 out of 5 Good on most skin tones

I ended up giving this to my mom for her birthday. She says it is perfect, not to light or dark and it blends well. She has light skin with baby blue eyes. I ordered another for myself. I like to use it as an eyeliner and crease color for my green eyes and tan skin. It looks so nice and glamorous with golden ticket.

  19. 5 out of 5 Instant Hit!

This eye shadow very quickly became one of my favorites because I was looking for a dark brown to darken up the crease and outer corner for deeper eye looks. This color does the trick and the search is over!

  20. 5 out of 5 I like it

This is a great shade to deepen any eye makeup look. It is also a great dark alternative to black without the intensity…..dark but soft at the same time. Can also be used as a liner

  21. 5 out of 5 Beautiful cool matte brown

Why is it so hard to find a great cool deep brown? Every other brown shadow has made my blue-grey eyes look tired and sore so I always ended up giving them away – until now. This one is a perfect keeper.

  23. 5 out of 5 Perfect natural brow and outer v

This is a very versatile color! I use it for my brows and outer v. I have light brown hair but in-between light-dark brows and it looks so exactly like my natural eyebrow color you totally can’t tell I’ve filled in my brows. It just looks like I have good brows. Espresso is like “Brun” by MAC except it won’t cause a rash. As with all of the Red Apple eyeshadows I have bought, it is of higher quality than MAC, and worth the extra money. It is extremely well-pigmented and blendable (zero blotching!). It can go on light for a professional look (I work in an office-y environment) or dramatic for stage lighting (I play music live) without looking fake. I use Espresso for the outer v, blended into Yes You Canyon for the upper lids. Then Clean Slate for lower lids, and Black Magic for the liner.

  25. 5 out of 5 Very Rich and Nice Pigmented

I tell you, I am loving every eyeshadow I have purchased from Red Apple Lipstick. I tried eyeshadows from another GF makeup company, but found that they weren’t pigmented enough. This eyeshadow is extremely versatile and beautifully intense. Love , love, love!!!!

  26. 5 out of 5 Perfect!

Espresso is the perfect brown for blue eyes. It is strong enough to be used as a liner if you use it wet, and soft enough to use under they eye to define your lashes. It is a rich brown color that goes really well with the blue shades in the Red Apple color line and is great with Olive this Color. I am really happy with it.

  27. 4 out of 5 Brow filler

I decided this shade is a little too dark as eyeshadow, but it works great as a brow filler. I apply it dry with a shadow applicator, brush it out with a brow brush and it looks totally natural and lasts all day. Great replacement for my toxic brow pencils!

  28. 5 out of 5 Exactly what you hope it to be!

Espresso is exactly what you hope it to be. It’s a great crease color and a great wet eyeliner or dry smudgy eyeliner. And it works great on your brows if you have dark brown brows like I do. Most definitely a staple in your makeup bag. It goes with most of the colors I have: Champage, Dirty Girl, Violet Vintage, Porcelain.. Just great!

  29. 5 out of 5 Looks Great

I originally bought this shadow to be used as an eyeliner. I have used it wet for a more precise look and dry for something smudgier. It looks great. It doesn’t stay put, though the way the more toxic versions do but I don’t mind re-applying every three-four hours. It is also a nice shadow, a nice deep color that I like to blend with lighter colors or wear in the crease above my lid.
