Warm & Cozy Fall Makeup Ideas & Tutorial

What do you think of when you hear the words warm and cozy? Perhaps a nice fluffy warm blanket, sitting in front of a fireplace, maybe a nice hot cup of cocoa, or a pumpkin spice latte might come to mind. Fall is the time for all things warm and cozy, from home décor to clothing, and even makeup. In this article, we will be talking all about warm and cozy fall makeup, from makeup ideas to an actual makeup tutorial with Red Apple Lipstick products. Keep on reading to learn all about this season’s warm and cozy makeup trend with fall colors.
Warm & Cozy Fall Makeup, What Is It?
It is just as it sounds, it centers all around warm toned shades of makeup with colors that are particularly appropriate for the fall season. Think of warm neutrals when it comes to eyeshadow palette shades such as browns and tans, also coppers, oranges, reds, even gold tones, warm colors that are seen in fall. One of the simple beauty secrets is to allow some free time to play around with fall eyeshadow finishes, don’t be afraid to use satin and shimmery finishes. Using a combo of both matte and satin/shimmer shades in my eyeshadow palette I can give both layers and texture to the eye makeup, adding to the cozy feel.
Tip: If using both matte and satin/shimmer eyeshadow finishes, try applying satin/shimmer shades on the lids. You can also apply it on the inner corners (tear ducts) and brow bone to highlight the eyes. Shimmer eyeshadows in your eyeshadow palette are great for bringing attention to the eye, while mattes are perfect to add definition to the eyes and also for adding shadows.
Other makeup ideas that fit perfectly for a warm and cozy look are subtle warm-toned blushes of pinks, peach and apricot shades, even some red shades are perfect for a cozy look. Using bronzer, such as the Sundrop Bronzer, is perfect to add warmness to the complexion which is great when you are going for that warm and cozy fall look. When it comes to lipsticks, think also of warm tones shades, warm nudes, tans, browns, red browns, and deeper warm shades of pinks.

How to Create a Warm & Cozy Fall Eye Look. Bonus: it’s an easy look to wear.
Step 1- Prime the Lids
Begin by prepping the lids using the Prime Time Eye Shadow Primer. Apply a tiny amount all over the lids, up to the brow bone. Let it dry for a couple of minutes before applying eyeshadow. Once the primer has dried, you may set it with a bit of setting powder to help the eyeshadows blend even more smoothly.

Step 2- Base Color
Apply Porcelain eyeshadow using the Wet/Dry Eye Brush, or a similar brush, all over the lid and up to the brow bone. (If Porcelain eyeshadow is too light for you, use another eyeshadow shade that is closer to your skin color.)
Step 3- Transition Shade
Next, using the Crease and Blend Brush, or a brush similar to it, apply Earth Girl eyeshadow onto the transition area (the area just above the crease and just below the brow bone). Blend that out well using windshield-wiping motions.

Step 4- Crease Shade
Deepen the crease area, the folded area above the eyelid, by applying She’s Spicy eyeshadow using the Crease and Blend brush. Use windshield-wiping motions to blend it out across the entire crease area, gently blending it with the transition shade.

Step 5- Lid Shade
You now want to apply Yes You Canyon eyeshadow on the lids. Using the Wet/Dry Eye Brush, concentrate applying Yes You Canyon on the middle and outer part of the lids, taking it into the crease. You can then blend out the edges using some of She’s Spicy eyeshadow with the Crease and Blend Brush. Finally, blend everything out with a bit of Earth Girl eyeshadow.

Step 6- Inner Third Lid & Highlight Shade
To brighten to eyes a bit while still keeping that cozy feel, apply Iced Mocha eyeshadow on the inner third of the lids. Gently blend it onto Yes You Canyon as you take it slightly towards the middle part of the lids for a smooth transition. Then apply it also in the inner corners/tear ducts and on the brown bone to highlight the eyes.

Step 7- Bottom Lash Line/Lid
Apply Yes You Canyon eyeshadow on the bottom lid, across the lash line with the Crease and Blend Brush. Then, blend that out with Earth Girl eyeshadow using windshield-wiping motions.

Step 8- Upper Lash Line
Darken/deepen the upper lash line using Hello Darkness eyeshadow. With the Angled Eye Brush, apply Hello Darkness as close and tight as possible as you can to the lash line. Doing this can help give the appearance of fuller lashes.

Step 9- Mascara
Complete the eyes by applying The Lash Project Mascara. Apply 3 to 4 coats for a beautiful, slightly dramatic, lash look. For a more natural lash look, you can apply up to two coats instead.

How to Create a Warm & Cozy Fall Face Makeup Look?
Step 1- Base
Apply your base makeup as normal. We suggest using more moisturizing base products as the weather cools down. Choose something that is not too glowy or shiny, but still gives the complexion a radiant look.
*Step 2 (optional)- Brows
Fill in your brows if this is part of your routine. For a more natural look, we recommend using a powder, such as an eyeshadow. Choose a shade that is close to your hair color but nothing too dark. For more on how to go about filling in the eyebrows, make sure to check out Andrea’s tips.
Step 3- Bronzer
Warm up the complexion by applying Sundrop Bronzer using the Blush Brush. Lightly blend on the areas where the sun would naturally hit the face- across the forehead, cheekbones, as well as the sides of the nose, and chin.

Step 4- Blush
Peachy pinks are great blush shades for warm and cozy looks. Coy blush, which is an apricot-pink shade, works perfectly with this makeup look. Simply use the Blush Brush to apply it.
*Optional- Setting
Spray/ Face Mist – You can set your finished look with a setting spray to help keep everything in place and help your makeup stay looking fresh longer. Or instead, you can use a face mist to help all the powder products melt into the skin and give a more natural, skin-like finish to the makeup look.

Step 5- Prep the Lips
Moisturize the lips before applying lip color by applying a light coat of the Rallye Balm, which also helps to prep the lips. Let that soak in for a couple of minutes.
Step 6- Lip Color
Finish your look by applying your lip color. Naughty lipstick is a great choice for this look as it is a slightly deeper, yet warm, tan nude shade. To give this shade an even cozier feel, you can give it a bit of a pinky undertone by layering it with a warmer shade of pink lipstick. Brazilliant and Day After Morocco lipsticks are great layering options. I personally also love a bold lip with warm eyes, and I do believe that glossy lips play great with your favorite scarf at the local coffee shop.
